SEA The Stars has been named ROA/Sportingbet.com ‘Horse of the Year’ in a poll of the association’s members.
The ‘Outstanding Three-year-old Filly’ award went to Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf heroine Midday.
Among the two-year-olds, Racing Post Trophy winner St Nicholas Abbey was chosen as the top colt, and the filly’s prize was awarded to Cheveley Park Stakes winner Special Duty.
The Sportingbet.com Winter Derby winner Scintillo was ‘All-weather Horse of the Year’. ‘Outstanding Handicapper’ was Cesarewitch winner Darley Sun, and Breeders’ Cup Turf hero Conduit was named ‘Outstanding Older Horse’.
In the novice National Hunt awards, Mikael D’Haguenet took the hurdling honours and Forpadydeplasterer won the chasing category. Cappa Bleu won the ‘Outstanding Hunter Chaser’ award.
ROA members voted York as the ‘Racecourse of the Year’, breaking Newbury’s five-time winning sequence.
