200 people joined us for our second yearling parade of the autumn last Sunday 7th November. It was a cold but bright day and guests arrived from 10.30am and were met by Julie and Sam at the entrance for registration and a wam coffee. People were invited to view the horses in the barns before the parade started and there was much interest and excitement around the two Harwoods Racing Club horses.
The parade started with the Rock Of Gibraltar colt led by my husband mark who showed himself well before standing on his two hind legs to wave at the crowd! Followed by a very well behaved Yes It's True colt, a striking chestnut he was paraded in hand and has since been backed and is now cantering out on the gallops. These two colts were then followed by the Notnowcato colt purchased at Newmarket, the Forest Wildcat colt who my father purchased in America, the Nayef colt for my Coombelands Racing Syndicate.
After the parade guests were given a good strong swimming display by Curacao, in the rather cold swimming pool and then on to the indoor canterway where ten of the yearlings were ridden.
I am my staff would like to thank so many of your for joining us for our yearling parade. 30 shares in the Harwoods Racing Club were purchased on the day, the Notnowcato colt's partnership is now complete and there is just one share remaining in the Nayef colt owned by my Coombelands Racing Syndicate.
If you are interested in receiving further information about Harwoods Racing Club or any of the other horses we have shares for sale in, please do ring my office 01798 873011 or email aperrett@coombelands-stables.com.

Rio Royale won his second race of the season at Lingfield on Sunday, rounding off a good week for us that started with Warning Song winning for Geoff and Carol Bailey and my father Guy before going to the Newmarket sales where we said goodbye to 13 of our equine friends. All found good homes as far afield as America, Austraila, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. We wish them all well in their new homes.
The yearlings are all home from the sales and are now ridden. We have our yearling parade this Sunday 7th November at Coombelands and if anyone wishes to join us, please do ring my office 01798 873011 to book your place. The two colts that have been purchased for the Harwoods Racing Club will be on parade as well as serveral other yearlings in which there are shares available for purchase in.
This weekend sees the final turf meeting of the season at Doncaster. We look to be double handed in the November handicap and both Classic Vintage and Life and Soul appear in great form.
We held our first ever yearling parade at Coombelands yesterday and were delighted that over 100 people came to Coombelands to view our recently purchased yearlings.
The first yearling shown was a strikingly good looking son of Rock Of Gibraltar owned by Harwoods Racing Club. For those of you interested in finding out how to join our exciting new racing club click on www.harwoodsracingclub.com.
Next shown were a good looking son of Notnowcato - Violet, Nayef - Aberdovey, Arch - Barzah and Choisir - Cetesiphon, all of who found new ownership as a result of their impressive shows.
The last to parade were yearlings that were purchased to order at Deauville, Doncaster and Newmarket in order
Lawman - Uncharted Haven
Dylan Thomas - Overlook
Clodovil - Shambodia
Danehill Hancer - Mixed Blessing
Discreet Cat - Mira Costa
Gone West - Vargas Girl
Our yearlings purchased at Keeneland in America are due to arrive this weekend and will be on show at our 2nd yearling parade on 7th November. If you would be interested in coming to see them and our facilities at Coombelands please contact my office on 01798 873011 or jcooper@coombelands-stables.com.
Well the Coombelands horses are flying along. On Sunday at Ascot, Life and Soul won the Pricewaterhouse Handicap under a strong ride from Neil Callan. A winner earlier in the year at Lingfield, this colt has been placed second at Epsom on Derby Day, fourth at Glorious Goodwood, a short head second at Ascot in the Shergar Cup and third at York, he really deserved to win on Sunday! We doubled up for Alan Spence when Dubai Crest won at Kempton on Monday also under Neil Callan. He had been off the course since running at Epsom in June but came with a storming run down the outside to make it two from two at Kempton.
At Bath in a pea soup fog, Saborido found his way home in front from Viviani, to make it a 1-2 for Coombelands in the staying event. Ryan Moore reported he didn't know where he was at any stage in the 2m event, good job Sabordio knew where he was having won as a three year old over course and distance. Viviani got lost in the fog after his jockey fell off after the post and thankfully my staff, Eric Keane and Alan Mcfarlane eventually found him walking up the home straight, fully 40 minutes after the race safe and sound.
YES IT’S TRUE – Harwoods Racing Club purchases it’s first racehorse!
